Shame On Target

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

Posted by: C. Ann

I pass this house most every friday morning during my cab ride to work. I’ve never met the owners of the house nor have I ever seen them but I most definitely am familiar with their work. You know that crazy dude in your neighborhood that overly decorates their house with really horrible holiday decorations? Well this house is no where near to being that horrible. Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving those are the usual times of the year that most people decorate their homes but not this house. They’re known for displaying their political views on the roof tops of their home, no matter the display they always seem to get a lot of grief for their freedom of speech. Protesters visit this house so often they probably know the address by memory. They’ve been on the news a few times, maybe you can remember a couple of years back when they had the burning McCain and Sarah Palin hanging from a noose?

This time their display caught my eye for sure “Boycott” in red on a huge glittery sign and little target signs in garbage bins.
Boycott Target?!?! whhhhhhyyyy??? I love Target. They always have everything I need plus some. I had heard about this boycott business before but I hadn’t really gotten into why they were being boycotted.
First thing I did when I got to work was googled it and found out that Target had donated $150,000 to a group that is running ads that back up republican candidate for governor in Minnesota, Tom Emmer who is known for opposing same-sex marriage. Target customers who are gay or have gay loved ones are furious! Target has been known as an ally to the gay rights movement and had even participated in many gay pride parades years.

While browsing after browsing I found a few videos that may be of interest to you , here is one of them:

I haven’t purchased from target in a while and i’m not sure when I’m planning on doing it in the future but I might consider taking my business else where if I can find another place where I can get all my household goods. I don’t have a car so the places I can shop are very limited but boycotting them till they realize what they’re are doing is wrong might not be so bad after all. Every little bit helps… especially when you consider the amount of money spent at Target in one time. I can spend a little over $100 every month, Now imagine if 100 people didn’t spend that amount of money… That would be a huge chunk of change for one store not to rake in from sales, how would that go unnoticed?

This definitely isn’t a blog to try to convince you to boycott, this is just a blog to keep you informed so you can make the choices you feel are fit with your beliefs.

Here is a link if you’d like to read a bit more:
Target Spending Company Money on Candidates

I’m off to New York for a few days
and when I return i’m sure i’ll have plenty of blogging material.
Till then,

Yup, I love myself which is why I write these posts for myself each year (last years post.) Why? You have to love yourself before you can love anyone else, and i love everyone. My mom says it to me all the time.

Let’s go back to the not future.

My 21st birthday was bleh. Someone got me chocolate pie. I’m so ungrateful, haha. I do not like pie most times, and i do not ever like chocolate. Thanks i guess? he he. I did get my awesome pink beach cruiser tho!

I got a new cheapo fishy eye camera. Its not adjustable, it just does what it does.

I love cake! iSCREAM 4 Cake!

Age 22-
Part one:
I met a girl at a bar who had my same birthday and year. So i had some dude drive us home. We made out hardcore, homeboy tried gettin in on the action and we said HELL NO. (See More.)

Part two:
I rented a porn location house w/ a pool, tennis court, and basket ball court. I had an art show and gave out iSg gifts to everyone. I also bought a shit ton of alcohol and had open bar, and cream puffs and cake. (See More.)
Me and My new Hur at my 22ND BDAY PARTY-ART SHOW.
I also kissed a girl here…. Her hubby said i could have her....
It’s my birfdate. I could do what i want!

Age 23-
I wined and dined my friends. I bought a lot of bottles of wine, and my fav. food. I got everyone drunk and i fed them. =)
You treat her good or i'll kill you.

Age 24-
I had a big house party at my pad and I made love to both my cakes. =) As i was doing this, my dress came off and someone photographed my titty out. Luckily they forgot their camera at my house and i deleted it! ha!
sooo preeetttty!! cake by Maria Bramante! <3

i had 2 cakes. made love to both. one was cold (ice cream cake) the other was BIG. ;)

an octopus coming out of a garbage cake drinking booze! thats sooo meee!

i was seriously horny over my cake

Now, I cant wait to post photos from today’s planned activities!

I learned a whole lot from age zero to age 4. i didn’t take in that much knowledge and wisdom again until age 21 to age 24. I am 25 at the present, and officially at 1:23 pm on this 18th day of September, 2010.
I love getting older. Old ladies are my favorite.

i'm gonna be a pink haired old lady with an afro and a best friend, like so;

Tomorrow marks Mexico’s 200 years of Independence from Spanish rule.

But of course, the celebration starts tonight cos that’s how we brown people do. ;)
And boy do we know how to pari. Pretty much everybody in the whole country celebrates this day with lots of good food, dancing, drinking, and fireworks ! Most of this partying takes place at each city’s zócalo or main plaza, where everyone dresses in traditional Mexican swag.

This is my granny in a China Poblana outfit
The guys dress up as charros and they all dance and get crunk!

Here’s some random pics I found from the interwebs :)

“Making a stink over bugs”

“It’s also important to keep fruit and seed-bearing plants away from the perimeter of a home, since the bugs like to feed on these plants, said Lynette Yang, an entomologist who does applied research for Cooper. Yang noted that large numbers of eggs and young bugs have been spotted this summer, so homeowners can expect more of the insects in their homes in winter if they do not seal them out.”- Msnbc

My 25th Birthday Planning Has Begun

I’ve been stupid ill for 10 days. I’m almost all better. I had a flu/cold/viral infection or something gross. I’ve been a half zombie human for a week and half. My brain has not really been working, but its slowly starting to move again.

Usually i plan my birthdays two months in advance. (If you know me you know i LOVE birthdays, i love cake, and i love celebrations, and me!) This year i feel old (in a good way.) I’m turning 25 and it hasn’t hit me til now that i should probably plan something.

i already have reservations to have brunch and tea at the Rose Garden Tea Room and Cafe with my twin and my mother see-

Today I got my renewal notice in the mail for LACMA see;
Renewing my LACMA membership. :)

and I’ve been on this monster trip of loving Sofia Coppola extra much. (I recently just saw The Virgin Suicides again, which has some of my favorite music ever by Air LISTEN-

All this helped me find the theme of my birfdate to be (Saturday September 18.)

Marie Antoinette by Sofia Coppola.

Which made me think duh! CAFE WAS.
I now also have reservations to have dinner and drinks with my friends at Cafe Was (i love this place!) see-

Now, below you will find 25 images that I’m using as my inspiration for my 25th birthday. Please enjoy.
